  1. The last straw was the DM/PC skirmish last week. I don't have the time or energy to deal with that kind of crap.

I assume this refers to exchange of words between me and Mal last week while waiting for game to start, seeing that I did not see any other PC/DM skirmish and am not aware of other games this might happen, so I figured I'd speak my mind clear of it.

First of all, I was, and I still am a sarcastic person. Nothing I said there was spoken seriously, but sarcastic joking towards Mal's behavior(including lightning strikes and killing me)

But regarding of that, I'd expect DMs to be able to handle response similar to their own behavior. I've heard, and been target of, lots of jokes from DMs here I could regard insulting, sometimes even abusive. When this is directed at me, I will give back with same extent, and I refuse to apologize for this. If people start to play, they'd better be able to handle the play.

Apart from pointing out that whole exchange was joked, and if it has been taken seriously has probably been communication error, I'm saying that you cannot expect players not to respond in kind to treatment they are given.

I will not go to details here of any incidents, feel free to pm if someone really wants to know.

If I'm just expected to sit there, smile and take all the abuse, then I'm clearly in the wrong place.

I won't apologize for what I said. I won't beg to be forgiven.

If someone wants me out of here, then say so.

  2. Alright.

    All files needed: http://www.annakolia.org/ann_dl.html

First things first, you need Neverwinter Nights Diamond edition.

Download latest patch and patch your game before installing any haks, CEP or anything. (1.69)

    Install newest version of CEP

    Download Annakol full hak set

Download all updates(just to be safe)

First extract Full hak set, then patches in order from oldest to youngest.

Place .hak files into hak folder, .tlk files in tlk folder. Folders are located in your Neverwinter Nights folder

.hak and .tlk are file types, so if you can't see them after file's name, you need to anable your computer to show file types

If everything went correctly, files are now installed, and you're able to log into server.

If problem proceeds, post error messages you're receiving here, and I'll have look at it.

And to answer your question, leveling is mechanic wise same as in normal NWN, but you're not supposed to go grinding for xp. So don't expect to powerlevel your character to 20+ in few days.

Hope you're able to solve any issues you have with files.

  3. Welcome to the server DevilDriver.

Yes, server may seem a little empty sometimes, as playerbase for NWN isn't huge, even smaller for RPers.

But, there's always atleast few times when people are guaranteed to be on, with propably best for you being weekly feisty chicken game on saturday, 23.00 GMT +0. There's always some of us on there, looking forward to seeing you ingame.

What problems are you having? If you can describe them, I'll do my best to help with it.

    Regards, Demolicious

  4. Hello Ania, and welcome to server!

Though Vatorres and Barry here answered your questions quite through already, I thought to share some opinions and suggestions myself.

Starting with character creation: As said, anything apart vanilla races requires application. List of races that you can apply for is quite large. There are satyrs, pixies, brownies and whatever. Only race I remember that's not allowed is vampire, so easiest way to figure it out is to to send character application and ask.

One thing though, I'd advise to not apply for(if you prefer that kind of char) evil aligned classes(blackguard, assassin) until you've played some time on server and people get to know you. I can tell from experience that it likely won't go trough.

And Forward unto Dawn. *cough* to crafting system. Haven't tried much of this myself either, but cooking/baking and alchemy are atleast there(server's alchemy doesn't require brew potion feat or exp/gold cost) Don't know about books, but atleast notes and letters can be written.

As Vatorres already mentioned, community is small, so server might feel empty at times. Don't know where you're from, but atleast playing during EU times tends to be empty unless playing around midnight, as most here are from US. Don't let empty server scare you away though, I've seen quite few new people popping in once and never again because they're online at empty times.

Best time to find meet ppl is during feisty chicken game, saturday 23.00 GMT+0. There always atleast few ppl on during that time, and it's great way for new players to meet old ones.

For travelling part, best bet at lower levels is to either get invisibility, or team up with someone and travel together. Roads are mostly "safe", so stronger monsters rarely wander on them, though that may happen. Safety of traveling varies also from area to area, so heading far into wilderness at low levels may prove fatal, even along roads.

Also, if you see someone online, don't be afraid to ask them questions, community is really newbie friendly here.

If you see me online and have some questions or trouble finding around, feel free to ask, and I'll help best I can. I'm usually on during week, few hours before chicken game times I mentioned above, with either Licios or Thar.

    Hope to see you ingame

  5. Issue: Invisible torsos on elf shamans

Location: Encountered in southern desert, area: off the beaten path

Details: Elven shamans I encountered on that area all have their torso armor template/mesh/whatever-it's-called missing, so their torso area doesn't appear.

  6. Question regarding MoM time and daylight savings.

With all you americans actually already having daylight savings, will game times also now be set according to changed clock?

Just asking becouse here in Europe we haven't actually had savings yet, so I need to know if everything will be 1h later for me or not.

(come to think of it, this actually touches all games, not just MoM)

  7. As Mike hasn't replied for over week, I'll just set this up.

    Name: Uderin Nermastacia

    Race: Half-elf

    Class: Sorcerer

    Occupation: Alchemist

    City of Origin: Tharbad

Brief bio: Well dressed, elegant, polite half-elf from Tharbad. Since his childhood, Uderin always had interest in alchemy, usually experimenting with every idea, regardless of its safety. His self-taught profession caused problems with his neighbours, so Uderin left Tharbad to look for place to continue his experimenting.

  8. Toght to mention.

I did encounter same problem after I managed to accidentally get myself into the village of lost.

Fixed it by changing nwnmain.exe priority to high trough -task manager-process-change priority-

So if anyone encouters same problem, I'd suggest trying that first. Seems like areas where nwn crashes to some people are more memory intense than others, so changing their priority allows them to be run.

EDIT: close task manager after changing the priority, or it may crash.

  9. There is NO CEP 3.0

    Im amused.

After that comment, I checked the files in this "CEP 3.0" and 2.4. And quess what? They are identical.

Download I used was in NWNvault, but I can't seem to find it anymore. Seems to have been removed.

I suddenly feel like it's better for me to just keep my mouth shut about anything.

  10. Not official, but I propably can offer a helping hand.

Generally, if not knowing exactly what files are missing, easiest method is to redownload all files required.

Just make sure you download newest patch(or if being paranoid like me, download all of them and apply in order from oldest to youngest) and it should work again.

What version of CEP you have? If server hasn't been updated with CEP,(Annakol downloads states 2.4 and newest is 3.0) latest version might conflict with server files. Though Im using CEP 3.0 and have no problems(apart from weird missing meshes/textures on some few items when customzing armor. Not sure if it's related though) I also haven't been on far and wide, so don't know if it conflicts.

Or if all the files are in check, is there differences in those 2 computers' equipment? Some graphic effects can cause screen freezing on drivers and machines that aren't made to handle them. Screen freezing sounds like Graphics card or RAM problem. If there's lot more graphic effects in Lost village, it might cause poorer computers run out of RAM.

That's all I can think right now.

  11. Character name: Licios

    Class: cleric/wizard

    Race: human, male

Description: Slighty taller than normal human, slim build that makes him look taller than he is, pale skin, silent

    Personality: sarcastic, usually serious, distrustful

    Age: 27

Licios doesn't remember his family. He was given at young age to a "remote monastery admist snow-filled mountains", as he describes it. There he was to be trained as cleric, and that's the only place he remembers of his homeland.

It had been tradition is his family, so he was told, to give one child of each generation to be trained as cleric, and so fate had chosen him. At ege of no more than six, he started his training under monastery's elders' watchful eye. His teachers soon noticed his intellect and curious mind, and after he was taught to read, he spent many hours within monastery's vast libraries. Mostly he seemed interested in books regarding old tales, those that told of magic, but was not as eager to learn history of his homeland, rarely even opening historybook unless forced. Not all of his time was as pleasant though, as his teachers seemed to find chores for him around monastery's halls, mostly when he was busy enjoying himslef, wether it was burrowing trough library, or digging tunnels and building snowmen outside.

As he grew older, he had to start his combat training, to better defend himself and those who could not, he was usually told. This did not let him neglet his other studies either, so Licios learned to enjoy few free moments he had. Though most clerics tended to favour blunt weapons, such as maces and hammers, in combat, he found his chosen weapon in greatsword. Though he trew himself into combat training just as eagerly as he committed himself to study of clerics' divine powers, he never truly listened his teachers ramble about his task as defender of justice.

Years passed, as boy grew into a man. Training was hard, but fulfilling, and Licios learned to enjoy the harsh climate around the monastery, often hiking for days around the mountains. He grew used to cold, though long hours in dark libraries and cold climate slowly turned his skin pale.

Still his training continued, and he would have finished soon, were it not for strange twist of fate.

There were parts in library that only greatest of monastery's masters were allowed, and even a question of its contents found him additional chores, "to keep his mind where it should", he was usually told.

Still, forbidden library seemed to call him. Sometimes, he thought he could hear voices in the darkness, calling him, begging him to come. Finally he gave in, and as night fell and everyone was sleeping, he rose from his bed and headed towards library. It seemed strange, monastery cloaked in darkness, only signs of life being loud snoring that drifted from monks' chambers. As he descended stairs leading to library, whispers seemed to appear again, guiding his way even deeper, descending into forbidden library.

As he passed te final doorway, pull seemed to grow stronger. Here, in eternal darkness below the monastery, sense of being called grew, as if something spoke to him from library's halls. These halls had been always sealed from all but oldest of monks, and the presence felt closer here. He was terrified, but the call grew louder and he couldn't resist. It seemed as if darkness guided him as he walked, finally revealing ancient pedestal in farthest reaches of lightless halls. And there lay a single book, black as night itself, it's silvery ornamets forming five-pointed star, mark of arcane.

Use of arcane magic had been forbidden long ago, and only divine powers of clerics was allowed to be used. Anyone else suspected dealing with magic was dealt swiftly, and permanently.

Still, Licios could not turn back anymore. Voices, now once merely a whisper, now seemed to scream in his mind. But as his hand touched the book, everything went silent. Much later he realized source of voices. Enchantment placed upon the book, to call someone capable of understanding what was written within, to ensure this knowledge would not be lost. He knew none of this however, as he slowly opened the book, his hands trembling as he started to read its content.

Days passe, and every night Licios sneaked into forbidden libraries, his eyes devouring anything he could read, his mind filling with possibilities. How wrong everyone had been! There was nothing evil in this knowledge, but it could benefit everyone. Surely they would understand...

Too late did he hear footsteps behind him, and voice speaking words of divine power. Before he could turn, world blackened n his eys.

He was imprisoned for days, while masters argued about what to do with him. Everyone, even himself, knew the answer ofcourse. It had been taught to him on one of his first studies of clerical magic. There was no redemption from what he had done, only way out was banishment. Long days in his prison gave him time to think of everything he had learned. He had trusted these people like family, but still they had betrayed him as soon as his deeds conflicted with their beliefs.

As his time came, he had made his decision. As guards dragged him to his trial, he made no attempt to defend himself, knowing it would be of no use. After trial, his punishment was set in motion: to be banished from this land, this world.

He was cast across the void between worlds, send to drift trough reality, to either land on lands unknown, or drift there for eternity. Luckily, his destination was Annakolia.

After these events, Licios renounced his faith to all gods, choosing to accept his fate and devote his life to powers he had found. His trust to others shattered, broken man now wanders lands of Annakolia. Never has he spoken name of his home again, and even rarely speaking of events that led to his current situation.

From first glance, few would believe this to be his story, but even if his face remains untouched, his eyes reveal deep scars that his experience has left on him.

  12. Might be best to start with a regular character before applying for a special one. Too many have come before for them to hand out special requests without seeing you in action, so to speak.

Once establishing yourself as a competent RP'er, the sky's the limit(except evil, see the rules and guidelines).

    I noticed.

Got my character idea trough, exept attempt to get blackguard approved.

Now Im just waiting for response to use evil alignment, due to Planar spells(alignment based summoning)

If that won't go trough, I'll have to think my character over again. I know it isn't easy to get "evil" aligned character trough at start, but as I personally don't believe in concept of "good" and "evil", I generally prefer to play characters usually concidered "evil", just to challenge stereotype that they are always "Evil".

I'll be seen online once I get my response, whatever it is.

  13. 3 days, 2 replys, this feels like another christmas.

Jokes aside, thanks for the welcome.(how come everyone immediately shortens my name to demo?)

Thought to give few suggestions on building up the player base.

I've been moderator for about half a year now on decent sized gaming community, so I've had my share of these kind of situations.

First, I would suggest fixing up the server homepage. Last update is atleast 1 year old, and there are multiple typing mistakes on the site, mainly "dieties" and down loads"

Thee are small things, but really turn back potential players, when I first saw it, I expected to see a server run by 10-13 year old kids who have problem understanding what RP means. This isn't insult, but just plain opinion.

Second, website has multiple links that direct you where-ever, example history is a link to old forum area with lots of topics irrelevant to server's history.

Third, and rather major thing is forums. They really need work, seeing that large parts of information is missing, or just extremely hard to find. Lots of that can be found on old forums though, but they are also hard to navigatre. If first impression is messy, few bother to look further.

Concidering forums, I had a major problem with my character, as I've managed to dig up what kind of characters need to be applied for, but only refrence about where to sent them was 1 and 6 years old playermade(no official info from admins) topics that directed them to Flamecrow. I actually sent my app in that direction, though forum logs state that he hasn't been on during last 2 weeks, nad Im really not sure if that went to right address, but better sorry than safe(or was it other way around?)

  14. "...and pull seemed to grow stronger. Here, in eternal darkness below the monastery, sense of being called grew, as if something spoke to him from library's halls. Sorry, got bit carried away there.

I've been following the server for about a year now, but never bothered to sing up due to not being able to find a copy of NWN, though Im not new to the game itself, having played it trough couple times(friends)

As I finally managed to actually get the game(it's starting to be rather rare), I thought to see if this server is still alive, as this seems rather interesting server to play on.

So far, my experience of RPing is quite limited, with just minecraft LotC server, but I've quite an experience in storywriting, so I know how to RP, as writing usually requires me to take my character's place.

Feel free to comment, say hello or just get me stoned.(dont mind, my humour is rather sarcastic)

Mostly right now Im interested in seeing if the current community is alive, due to forum being quite on unuse, apart from DMs, as that causes community to seem bit dead.

If things are still alive, I'll be propably seen online soon, though have to send my char app first.
