  1. Hi all.

Good news is my primary computer (Mac) is up and running.

The bad news is I still don't have NWN on it.

I have my back up laptop ready to use. It is less than ideal but I've used it before I guess I can use it again.

Life is very busy right now. I really didn't need to wrestle with a computer issue on top of everything. But I'm very happy to announce that Apprentice DM Gracefully Declines is now going to help me with the weekly Merchants of Mayhem game. I'm looking forward to her assistance.

  2. A second crash and $XXX.00 amount of dollars later... my computer is now up and running with a new hard drive.

I lost everything, though the most frustrating part will be re installing NWN for a Mac. I am also less than 24hours away from heading out of town for a week so I'm not going to have time to reinstall anything until I return.

I think I can safely say I'm out of commission for the next two weeks. Players, my apologies.

I'll post as soon as I'm up and at'em again.

    *GROWLS*

So much for spending anytime at all on line this weekend. I am in the midst of reinstalling the operating system on my Mac. Not sure what happened but I lost everything.

I'm also getting ready to go out of town for a week. Not sure when I'll have time to connect with Athena to reinstall everything.

No games this week or next due to computer issues and my travels. I hope to be up and running soon, however.

  4. I'm glad I spoke to Mal and a few of you yesterday. As discussed, I missed today's game.

Fence painting went on much longer than anticipated and my arm is so sore I doubt I could move the mouse for long periods of time.

On the plus side, I had lots of time to plot and scheme about the game. Expect stuff to happen next week!

  5. I'm back from my travels. Traveling has worn me out. I need to catch up on sleep, projects and the office, and my garden (stupid unseasonably warm weather). I should be ready to go by Sunday again.

  6. Advisor 1: Did you see the bill to repair the damaged oven at The Raging Boar?

Advisor 2: Yes... *frowns at the cost*

Advisor 1: And here is an invoice for their placement at Konnham, Billum & Skarpa...

Advisor 2: *taking the piece of paper* What?! Scorched walls?! Emotional distress of resident rats?! *crumples the paper and tosses it into the corner*

Advisor 1: I thought we should avoid them.

  7. Hi all,

    I will be out of town the weekends of March 15, 16, 17 and 23, 24, 25.

I will be unable to host or participate in any games during this time.

I am really looking forward to April as my work schedule shifts significantly for the better!

  9. *days later, the Baron's Advisors looks through the applicants*

    Advisor 1: *reviewing the notes* A half-orc?

Advisor 2: Yes, I think we will need a large hair net.

    Advisor 1: "Self taught alchemist"?

Advisor 2: ... very much into his home brewing. Might need to investigate our insurance coverage for this one.

Advisor 1: What's this about needing a criminal background check?

Advisor 2: I think the Shire and the adjacent counties would suffice.

Advisor 1: And what does this say? I can't read it because of the ink smudge.

Advisor 2: That's a dwarven maiden. She says she likes to use her axe.

    Advisor 1: Lumberjack?

    Advisor 2: No, miner.

Advisor 1: *turning the pages* "wants to work with cats"?

    Advisor 2: *shrugs*

Advisor 1: *flipping to last page* Ah, this one shows promise!

Advisor 2: Yes, with her past work experience with us I think she will prove most beneficial.

Advisor 1: Let us begin the placement right away!

  10. (in the hours following the happy hour at the inn on the North Road)

Advisor 1: I've got information! *waves survey in the air*

Advisor 2: What did you find out?

    Advisor 1: Everything we suspected.

Advisor 2: Is that good or bad?

    *long silence*

Advisor 1: I think this is going to be harder than we thought.

  11. Merchants of Mayhem is a reboot game building off the original played in 2008-2009.

New players are to start at level 6. Any standard race and class is playable. No evil alignment.

PCs should be themed on one of the common occupations in Annakol, Shire, or Bree.

Creativity is highly encouraged by not required.

This game is a mix of RP and adventure, with forum participation encouraged.

Contact DM Mykkal if interested in joining.

  12. (the conversation continues)

Advisor 1: We need to reeducate these adventurers!

Advisor 2: Send them to school? I'm not sure if they can read...

Advisor 1: No, no. An apprentice program! Local businesses can offer on the job training.

Advisor 2: Will they agree to do that?

Advisor 1: The businesses or the adventurers?

    Advisor 2: Either.

    Advisor 1: We'll give incentives.

    Advisor 2: Like what?

Advisor 1: We can subsidize the wages. Businesses can get cheap labor and adventurers can get paid without fear of death.

Advisor 2: We'll need someone to oversee the project.

The Baron: Overseas? Where we going?

    Advisor 1 + 2: *silence*

  13. In the Baron's meeting chambers.

Advisor 1: The economic recovery isn't going quite as planned.

Advisor 2: But the trade routes are open.

Advisor 1: Yes, but it can still be difficult to move freight through some areas.

Advisor 2: What about manufacturing? Can we not make more here?

    Advisor 1: Not without supplies.

Advisor 2: And unemployment? There seem to be many layabouts these lands. "Adventurers" they call themselves.

Advisor 1: *scoffs* The seem to have plenty gold for the inns but none for taxes

Advisor 2: We need to put them gainfully to work.

Advisor 1: We need an economic stimulus package.

The Baron: ... an econonomic stick what?

    Advisor 1 + 2: *silence*

  14. I think the full download is complete but check against dates of updates and apply all - get the full download first.

I do not know what the issue is on the computer that did not work there but my laptop does not like some of the more advanced tilesets - i only crash in the one swamp tileset but do run slower in that tileset you are having trouble with. Set the res lower and see if that helps.

I have a MB graphics on the laptop - not too bad for a laptop but nothing like what the desktop with the 9800 Nvidia graphics card can do - BIG difference on speed and response.

ALSO - one can crash out on tilesets EVEN Bioware standard tilesets - one game a few years ago both HH and Wolfgang crashed on the same standard tileset - after they both ran defrags of their hard drives they had no problems.

NWN is time sensitive on finding and loading graphic components - if the HD access is fragmented the time to find and load the components to make the scene is slower - too slow and NWN crashes.

    Thanks, Barry.

I'll look into things this weekend. I was pretty sure I was up to date.

I did notice that I can't see the new mounts either. What is that connected to?

  15. The most delicate flower wilts says the Man with Thistedown Hair, but if you want her back, ask her to dance.

The adventurers find their way through a strange house and find Lino's mother in law in the midst of a strange party.

Would you dance with me? asks one of the adventures.

Of course, she replies and disappears.

I will keep the most interesting parts of her for myself. The rest is yours.

The adventures suddenly find themselves back in the Feisty Chicken where a very loving, cheery mother in law helps her son in law with the tasks in the inn.

  16. Upon arriving in Fairy's lost village of wherever my screen locked up. I did a switch to another computer and was able to navigate just fine.

I thought I had my updates done correctly but now doubt it. Any thing I could've possibly overlooked? I've been on hiatus so long I'm sure I don't have it all as I should.

    Thanks!

  17. In a misty blue tower.

Adventurer 1: Hey, look at the mysterious green fog.

Adventurer 2: Let's explore the caverns in the basement.

Adventurer 3: But, this mysterious green fog must be important?

Adventurer 4: No, let's explore the caverns in the basement.
