In the dark of the night, a cloaked and hooded man slipped out of the gate leading from the royal grounds. The figure ghosted into the shadows before the city guard noted his passage. Less than three-dozen heartbeats later found the man seating himself at a table in a shadowed corner of the Raging Boar Tavern. Still hooded, he ordered two pints from the startled waitress. A halfling, likewise hooded, came in the tavern, moved to the corner, and then slipped into the nearest chair. "I didn't see you," The waitress commented. As she set down the drinks, her gaze took in the halfling.
